Apartment Style: Entry Way Turned Entertaining Space

IMG_1484.jpg

Eric and I moved into a new apartment in August and while the apartment has nicer features and updates, it also comes with less square footage. Our first dilemma was realizing all of our furniture would not fit. Not only was the apartment smaller, but the rooms were all shaped weird and it made it really hard to place all of our furniture. We both agreed the piece we use the least was our dining room table, it sort of turned into our junk table if you know what I mean. Everyone has a space like that in their house, lets be real. So we got rid of our huge table and the apartment already felt more open.

Our next dilemma was we had way too many board games and no where to store them. That’s when we had the idea to create a mud room/entryway/entertaining space. We purchased a bench that had enough storage to fit all of our board games and allowed us to sit down and remove our shoes as we walked in.

I also added a pouf for extra seating, moved our blanket of baskets into the entryway, and added a bar cart! This space had suddenly become an extension of our living room and it made the space appear bigger since there was no clear division of rooms. I think my goal is to eventually add a coat rack behind the blanket basket for even more accessibility as you enter and leave the apartment, and it will also create some height. I’ve also been on the hunt for baskets to hide the games, but alas no luck so far size-wise.

I’ve slowly been adding little touches to it as the months have passed and I’m really happy with how it has turned out! Check it out below, I’ve linked every piece at the end of this article if anything catches your eye!

I’m horrible at keeping plants alive, Even ones that claim they are easy to take care of. This plant is fake, but it looks so close to the real thing! The pot even comes with fake dirt and moss.

I searched for awhile for this plant stand. this style of stand usually costs around $150 and i found this stand for only $55. it’s great quality too!

these mirrors are above the bench. I love incorporating mirrors on my walls because they bring in even more natural light. This space would also look great with one big round mirror above it.

Now that it’s October I feel like it’s officially fall! I love this time of year because for the next three months you can decorate your house and make it feel nice and cozy for the holiday’s ahead! I always scatter little pumpkins (like these) around my house, add hand towels in the kitchen (like this one), and add a wooden sign welcoming fall (like this one)! It’s the little things that can cozy up a space so much more!
