This is my second recipe in my Valentine's series. If you're interested in making some yummy heart-shaped soft pretzels, check out my first recipe here. I thought a cocktail would be fun for my second recipe and I immediately thought about Frosè. If you haven't heard, frosè is a delicious drink that's basically a rosè wine slushy. The trick to making a good frosè is choosing a rosè that's full-bodied, like a Merlot or Pinot Noir rosè, that way when you freeze it there's still a lot of flavor! This recipe is super easy and would be a great pink drink for Valentine's day and can even be taken into summer during hot days! Check out the recipe below!
1 bottle Rosè, full body (I used a Pinot Noir Rosè called Primarius)
1/2 cup Granulated sugar
1/2 cup Water
8 oz Strawberries, diced
1/2 Lemon, juiced
1 tsp Lemon zest
Ice, as needed
1) Add water and sugar to a pot and bring to boil while stirring constantly, to make a simple syrup. Once at a boil, add the diced strawberries and lemon zest and remove from heat. Allow flavor to infuse and cool for 30 minutes.
2) Once cool, strain simple syrup so there are no more strawberries in the mixture. OR you can leave the strawberries in for more flavor (I have found I like this better).
3) In two batches- add simple syrup, rosè, lemon juice to blender. Add ice to fill. Puree until a slushy consistency.
4) Pour into a wine glass or champagne flute and garnish with a strawberry, if desired.
