Winter Athleisure

Athleisure- aka how to look cute while being comfy (at least that's what it means to me)! According to Wikipedia, athlesiure is defined as a trend in fashion where clothing designed for workouts and other athletic activities is worn in other settings, such as the workplace, at school, or at other casual and social occasions (This made me laugh for some reason). Certain articles of clothing and footwear are associated with the trend in fashion, and these include tight-fitting elastic yoga pants, leggings, zip front or hooded sweatshirts, and lace-up or slip-on tennis shoes.

Winter athleisure is similar, except you can add winter accessories such as hats, scarves and layer up! Blanket scarves are perfect for this look and adding a leather jacket for extra warmth is also a cute idea! Too cold for just a leather jacket? Try a long, tailored peacoat in a neutral color, such as these:

If you're wearing a coat like this, wearing it open makes it more casual and fits the look better. Layer it up with a blanket scarf, accessorize with a mini leather backpack, throw on some slip-on sneakers and you're good to go! Perfectly on trend.

For my first look, I styled an athleisure look with an oversized sweatshirt. I love this sweatshirt because it's slightly distressed and has that "lived in" feel. Mine says, CHILL(Y) and I'm obsessed with it. Plus it comes in several colors (some with sayings, some not).

This sweatshirt is great because it's long enough to cover your butt and wear with leggings! Even though this athleisure look is casual, rules such as these still apply.

Here's a closer look at this cute sweatshirt. I would make the scarf fuller if I wasn't showing my sweatshirt off to all of you.

Have fun with your accessories! Pom pom hats are everywhere right now and are the cutest addition to this laid-back look. These red velvet slip-on sneakers were perfect for this outfit. On trend, comfy, and matched my holiday colors perfectly.

For my second look, I played with layers. I got the softest sweatshirt from target (feels like butter), but it wasn't long enough to cover my butt, so I added a long white cami underneath. This would also work well with a classic white button up, or anything tunic length that's semi-thin for layering.

Switch up your athleisure look with leather leggings! They make everything look a little bit edgier, and I'm kinda into that. Also, I finally found a pair I love! They aren't too thick and are a pull-on style under $50! Every other blogger seems to have the SPANX leather leggings, and in my opinion, they are thin and not worth the price tag. So take my advice ladies- buy these leggings! I'll link them below!

This outfit would also look super cute with a long, open peacoat, a distressed baseball hat and some fun Nike tennis shoes!

There are plenty of ways to pull off this trend, so don't be afraid of experimenting with items you already own! This is one of my favorite trends to wear on my days off, when I'm running errands, and sometimes even after work! When I was in college, this was my go-to style almost everyday. I hardly ever wore jeans to class- too much work. This is also a great look for Black Friday while you're shopping! A slip-on sneaker and elastic waistband are perfect when you'll be in and out of dressing rooms, and with a long day of shopping, comfort is key.
