I started this blog because I love clothes and putting outfits together and wanted to share my passion with others. Since I started this blog, I have been encouraged to branch out from my normal jeans and a cute top. I’ve been experimenting with layers, accessories, and new trends. Of course, I still stick to my own personal style- you should never try to be someone else other than you. I’ve only had this blog for a couple months, but I’ve already been challenged to think outside of the box and try new things. I have a pretty simple, casual style, so for me adding a hat to my wardrobe was a big deal! (I’ve literally been searching for a hat that fits my small head for years! Thanks Target!)
As I continue blogging and styling outfits, I hope to push myself to get out of my comfort zone and really have fun with my looks! One of the best parts about blogging is seeing everyone’s unique styles. Even if several bloggers have the same shirt or the same shoes, it’s interesting seeing how that specific blogger put their personal touch on that style. Everyday I seem to follow someone new, admiring their personal style, noting styles I want to try and how to incorporate them into my look. I can’t wait to see how my style evolves as I continue blogging!
The outfit I’m sharing today may seem simple, but for me it was totally out of my comfort zone! I NEVER wear skirts. Whenever I do wear skirts, I tend to feel too put together if that makes sense? I love being cute and casual, and dresses are definitely a staple of mine, but skirts always felt very structured and too girly. I LOVE the way suede skirts look (especially for fall), so I decided I would try one out. I chose this skirt because it wasn’t too short (skirts just don’t feel as secure as dresses haha), I loved the wrapped grommet detail, and the color is gorgeous!
My first instinct was to style this skirt with a fitted top tucked in and my black OTK boots. Turns out this skirt is just a bit too long for my OTK boots (I probably could have gotten it in petite, but oh well- baby steps), and the fitted shirt combo made me feel like I was getting ready to go to a club. NOT my style. After playing with it a little bit I decided to half tuck an oversized sweater, pair it with my favorite booties, and accessorize with some blingy (but simple) jewelry. LOVED it! Don’t get me wrong, I still felt a little bit out of my comfort zone, but as I walked around in it and went on a dinner date wearing it I started feeling it- and with it came confidence! I looked good!
This is one of my favorite parts about fashion- how it makes you feel. So don’t be scared to get out of your comfort zone and try something new because sometimes it’s really worth it, and the confidence that comes with it is amazing! Don’t be scared ladies!
